Barkov/Kadri

Aleksander Barkov is third on the Panthers in goals (17) and second in points (44), but he should be the first concern after his hat trick in the Panthers’ 4-3 overtime win over Toronto in Florida on Dec. 15. The Leafs’ Nazem Kadri has a goal and two assists in two games against Florida this year, and has more career points vs. Florida (24) than any other team.

NEED TO KNOW

The Panthers are winless in 2019, going 0-5-2 in seven January games. It’s the longest losing streak for the Panthers since 2013, when they lost nine games in a row … Jonathan Huberdeau, who has 47 points in 45 games, is trying to become the fourth player in Panthers history to reach 50 points in 50 games … The Florida power play is rated fourth in the NHL (25.9 per cent). The penalty kill is 16th (79.5) … Vincent Trocheck (ankle) has been out of the lineup eight weeks, but he took part in a full practice Thursday and should be back after the all-star break.
