After a slow start to the season with the New York Islanders, Nick Leddy’s point production is beginning to come in the last 10 games.

It took Nick Leddy until the 10th New York Islanders game this season to score a point. That came as a surprise because, despite his mind-boggling -42, Leddy had 42 points last year which was the second highest of his career.

The Barry Trotz system took a while for Nick Leddy to catch on to, but it appears that he’s finally into it and has actually turned a corner in his play. In the last 10 games, Nick Leddy has six points (all assists).

He recently had a four-game point streak in late December and early January, which is a positive sign for the Isles d-man. It’s been a weird calendar year for Nick Leddy. He started strong last year but finished awfully. This year it appears he’s figured it out after a slow start.

With the emergence of Devon Toews, the Islanders could have a really solid d-core for years to come if Nick Leddy becomes the player he once was for this time. Leddy, still only 27 should be in the prime of his career.

As of now, Leddy is on pace for 29 points. If he’s able to get that number to around 35, he’d need a .51 points per game pace the rest of the way, by years end the Isles will be in good shape. Peak Leddy, Hickey, and Toews sounds like a pretty nice lefty defensive group to me.
