Thursday NHL action features the New York Islanders hosting the New Jersey Devils.

The New Jersey Devils were denied a third straight victory after falling at Columbus 4-1 on Tuesday. Blake Coleman scored in the second for New Jersey with Keith Kinkaid allowing four goals on 24 shots to get the loss.

Columbus took a 3-0 lead in the first with Cam Atkinson, Boone Jenner and Artemi Panarin supplying markers while Pierre-Luc Dubois tallied in the second.

Atkinson, Dubois and Panarin also assisted for the Blue Jackets who received 29 saves from Joonas Korpisalo who upped his record to 9-2-2.

The New York Islanders have played well the past week with wins in three of four after downing visiting St. Louis 2-1 in OT. David Perron scored in the third for St. Louis with Ryan O’Reilly and Jay Bouwmeester assisting and Jordan Binnington recording 23 stops.

New York received a first period goal from Jordan Eberle with Anders Lee getting the assist. Valtteri Filppula netted the overtime winner at 1:37 and Robin Lehner picked up the win for the Islanders with 30 saves.

Devils are 0-5 in their last 5 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation and under is 5-0 in Devils last 5 vs. Metropolitan and over is 12-2-2 in Devils last 16 following a loss of 3 or more goals. Under is 4-0-1 in Islanders last 5 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 days situation and Islanders are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Islanders are 6-0 in their last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. Devils are 1-9 in the last 10 meetings in New York and Devils are 5-15 in the last 20 meetings and home team is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings. 

I would try to avoid the high juice but I favor the  Islanders who are playing well…
