The St. Louis Blues look for their second win in as many nights as they complete their double header with a trip to the Barclay’s Center to face off with the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

The Blues have really picked their game up lately and have quietly put aside their rough start to the season as the turn of the calendar has been a welcome sight for the long time Western Conference contenders. St. Louis came into the year looking to finally break through in the playoff picture but a very uncharacteristic start to the season had them in the mix for a lottery pick in the draft instead of a playoff berth and that was making the front office very uncomfortable. The Blues are 5-0 in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning record on home ice and are an impressive 6-1 in their last 7 trips away from home but they will have their work cut out for them here as the Islanders are looking like a dark horse in the East and have won 8 of their last 10 contests.

The Islanders meanwhile have thrived in the post John Tavares era and seem to have a huge chip on their shoulder this season and that was evident with a statement win at home against the league leading Tampa Bay Lightning. New York has relied on a balance offensive attack to generate their success and the trends are in their favor in this matchup as they are 5-2 in their last 7 meetings with the Blues with the Over hitting in 9 of their last 13. New York is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the Central division and are 5-1 in their last 6 against opponents from the Western Conference and the odds makers have the Isles as a moderate home favorite as we approach puck drop.

The Blues 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games and have hit the Under in 12 of their last 16 road games while the Isles are 6-2 in their last 8 Tuesday games and have hit the Under in 4 of their last 5 against the Central. The Blues and Isles are two of the hottest teams in the league right now but the value is on the Blues who were great again last night and should be backed until they fall back to Earth.
