The New York Rangers are coming off a high with their 6-2 win over Carolina.  Now, they get to take on  one of the worst teams in the league, the Chicago Blackhawks.

If the New York Rangers want to get a winning streak started, they couldn’t have picked a better opponent.   The Blackhawks are mired in last place in the Central Division with 41 points, good for the fourth worst record in the NHL.  They have lost four in  a row and have the worst goal differential in the league (-37).

After exploding for six goals, their biggest goal output of the season, the Rangers will hope to keep the offense going.  The Hawks allowed eight goals in a loss to New Jersey on Monday. They’ve also won only one game in their last seven.  But the Rangers need to beware as the Blackhawks haven’t been blown out often, losing three games in overtime and actually beating Pittsburgh on the road for their only win.

Chicago also ended 2018 on a high note, winning five out of their last six games  in December. The bottom line is that the Blackhawks have been competitive so they won’t be a pushover.  Don’t forget that the Blueshirts played one of their worst games of the season in October when they lost to Chicago 4-1.
