The Winnipeg Jets look to stay red hot on home ice and shake off a loss last night in Minnesota as they host the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.

The Red Wings head into Winnipeg look to right the ship against Central division foes as they take on one of the league’s top teams who looked shaky in their outing on the road against the Wild last night. Detroit started the season off looking like a group with a ton of value as they were written off by almost everyone but they pulled off some strong victories and looked as though they could land a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. However, they have fallen on hard times and have just 6 wins in their last 22 contests against Western Conference foes and don’t do too well on the road against the league’s top home ice teams. Detroit is 16-35 in their last 51 road games and have played to the Over in 6 of their last 8 games overall.

The Jets meanwhile look like one of the league’s best teams and should very well be in the mix for the President’s Trophy as the regular season points champion. However, the Jets have much loftier ambitions as they are among a handful of teams that look like a contender to win the Stanley Cup and with the depth they have across the board and fire power they have on offense it could make for a very long and difficult evening if you’re a Red Wings fan. The Over has hit an astounding 10 times in the last 11 meetings between these two sides which accounts for the hook on the extra half-goal in the total here as we are looking at the 6.5-goal mark.

The Wings are 2-7 in their last 9 Friday games and have hit the Over in 18 of their last 26 road games while the Jets are 12-4 in their last 16 against the Atlantic and have hit the Over in 15 of their last 24. This one figures to be a blow out in favor of the Jets who should have no issue getting this one done in regulation.
